A rental house on 20th Street North in Columbus caught on fire early Thursday morning, but firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, according to Capt. Brett Thomas of Columbus Fire and Rescue Station 1.
Thomas said a call came in at 3:06 a.m. reporting a fire in a rental house at 1215 20th St. N., and firefighters from Station 1 and Station 3 arrived at approximately 3:09 a.m.
The fire began in the hallway and was confined to that area, with the blaze extinguished by 3:35 a.m., Thomas said.
The home was vacant at the time, and no other homes in the area were affected. Thomas declined to give the name of the homeowner.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
