A fire broke out at a one-story home in Columbus this afternoon.
Columbus Fire and Rescue firefighters responded to 2212 Fourth Ave. S. at around 4:15 p.m. Firefighters got the fire under control at about 4:45 p.m.
Fire safety officer Carole Summerall said two people got out of the home safely and neither was injured.
At one point, smoke from the blaze covered Fourth Avenue South going from the intersections at 22nd Street South to 23rd Street South, and flames covered the front window of the house.
Columbus police responded to assist Columbus Fire and Rescue in blocking off the street.
The cause of the fire is unknown as is the estimated damage to the house. The wooden exterior was charred.
