Annunciation Catholic School’s sixth-grade robotics team won first place in innovation March 8 at the FIRST LEGO League Competition in Biloxi, Mississippi.
ACS sent two teams to compete against 38 others from across the state. The sixth-grade team, The Twilight Zone, took home first place in innovation, while the seventh- and eighth-grade team, The Legendary LEGO Legionnaires, placed second in innovation.
Nichole Cancellare, who coaches the teams, was given the Coach’s Award.
FIRST is a global robotics community with the goal of preparing students for the future through team-based robotics programs to advance STEM education. Students were judged on an innovation project, robot design and how well their coded robots performed missions during the competition.
