The Dispatch advertising staff won multiple awards in the Mississippi Press Association’s 2011 Better Newspaper Contest for Advertising. The awards ceremony was this past Saturday in Jackson. The paper competed with other newspapers with a circulation between 9,000 and 15,000.
Dispatch winners are: Best Display Classified Ad, first place — Jackie Taylor and Angie Evans, with an ad for Carl Hogan Toyota and third place — Jackie Taylor, with an ad for Crye-Leike; Best Niche Publication, second place — Catfish Alley magazine; Best House Ad, first place — Adrian Bohannon; Best Single Retail Advertisement in black and white, honorable mention — Jay Armstrong, with an ad for DC Music; Best Political Advertisement, spot or process color, third place — Linda Massey and Jay Armstrong, with an ad for Bo Harris; Best Small Space Ad, first place — Jay Armstrong, with an ad for Columbus Arts Council; Best Section or Edition Dedicated to Retail Sales Promotion, glossy, third place — Dispatch Dining Guide; Best Automobile Advertisement, spot or process color, second place — Jackie Taylor, Beth Proffitt and Peter Imes, with an ad for Carl Hogan Toyota; Best Single Magazine Advertisement, third place — Jackie Taylor and Peter Imes, with an ad for Doris Hardy and Associates; Best Service Ad, spot or process color, second place — Jackie Taylor, with an ad for Eden MediSpa.
