Concerned Citizens of Lowndes County is putting on three political forums between now and the end of the month, with the first set for 7 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Grove Community Center.
Walter Shinn of CCLC told The Dispatch on Thursday the forums are designed to be nonpartisan and allow all candidates in county races an opportunity to introduce themselves and answer questions.
“We want to allow candidates the chance to speak directly to the people,” Shinn said. “Republicans, Democrats and Independents will all be right here. I want people to come out to support their candidate, but also to come out with questions.”
Shinn said candidates have been invited from the supervisor races, as well those for sheriff, coroner, chancery clerk, tax collector and justice court judge.
Shinn said candidates will be given two minutes to introduce themselves before fielding questions from the audience, as well as from Shinn and co-organizers Cyntha Jordan and Belinda Morris.
Two more forums are set for 7 p.m. on July 21 at the New Hope Community Center and July 28 at the Artesia Community Center, Shinn said.
The primary election is Aug. 8, and the general is Nov. 7.
