After 10 years in Orlando and Miami, Fla., Ben Inman, a Columbus native, relocated his company, ZONG Music Partners to Nashville, Tenn.
Now he wants to share his success with his hometown, hosting a benefit concert for Palmer Home for Children, Friday at the Trotter Convention Center.
“After working with such artists as Dolly Parton, Billy Dean, Lee Ann Womack, Clay Walker, Billy Currington, Bucky Covington and newcomers, Justin Moore, ”Small Town USA,” and Sarah Buxton, ”Outside my Window,” I”m now bringing my latest project home to Columbus,” Inman wrote in an e-mail.
The band Graylit will be featured; opening for Graylit is the band Knapsackheroes, who perform during the summer X Games, and a local band named Good Bye {SKY}.
“There”s nothing I”ve wanted more than to bring these artists to the Columbus area for everyone to come out and see. It should be interesting to see the response we get,” Inman wrote, noting the Trotter holds about 1,200 people and he hopes the concert sells out.
Doors open at 7 p.m.; the event — called Break the Silence Winter Music Tour ”09 — begins at 8. General admission is $8 for advance tickets and $10 at the door.
Advance tickets can be purchased at New Life Christian Supplies on Highway 45 North in Columbus, 662-327-4602; advance tickets also can be purchased between 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, at the Trotter Convention Center.
Graylit currently is “fielding offers from Universal Music Group and Columbia Records/Sony Music Entertainment,” Inman wrote.
The band”s appearance in Columbus is part of a “mini festival tour” scheduled throughout the South in advance of an upcoming five-day music cruise for Carnival Cruise Lines, setting sail June 5, 2010 from Mobile, Ala., to Progresso and Cancun, Mexico.
Ten percent of all proceeds from the Friday event will be donated to the Palmer Home for Children.
