Incumbent Democrat Scott Colom has cleared the $100,000 mark in fundraising in his bid for a third term as 16th Circuit district attorney.
As of Sept. 30, he reported total contributions of $112,961, according to his most recent campaign finance report filed with the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office.
Candidates in state and local races must file periodic campaign finance reports and itemize contributions or expenditures of $200 or greater. The most recent reports were due Tuesday for the period from July 1-Sept. 30.
In the most recent filing period, Colom reported $59,277 in contributions, all but $10,284 of which were itemized.
By contrast, Republican challenger Jase Dalrymple’s fundraising arm, Friends of Jase, has brought in $32,471.09 year-to-date. Of that, $10,678.88 was raised during the last filing period, with $7,300 itemized.
The district attorney serves Lowndes, Oktibbeha, Clay and Noxubee counties. The general election is Nov. 7.
Colom’s donors
For the last period, the vast majority of Colom’s support came from within Mississippi, including $4,241.52 in self-funding.
But his report shows $9,200 in support from out-of-state donors, spanning 11 states and Washington, D.C.
His itemized donations for last period include $5,000 from Dickie Scruggs; $1,500 each from Merrida Coxwell, Veronica Landers, Crymes Pittman and Mark O’Ferrel; $1,000 each from Peterson Law Firm, Charlotte Sheedy, W. Howard Gunn, Reecy Dixon, Bill Cunningham, Brenda Langford, Dismuke Development Group, VLUXE Signature Spa LLC, Orlando Richmond and Waide and Associates; $650 from Reed Cochran; $600 from Diann Veal; $515 from Janie Shields; $510 from State Sen. Angela Turner Ford; and $509 from Tina Rogers.
He also received $500 each from Clint Stenson Maintenance LLC, Smith AC and Heating, Carol Jean Faver, Charles Taylor, Michael Bentley, Cherri Okocha, Drucila Winston, John Colom, Bag LLC, Richard Rousel, E. Carlos Tanner, George B. Ready, Terry Seabrook, Trina Davidson Brooks, Jay Hurdle, Starks Law Firm, Jessica Knight Henry, Ashley Wicks, David Lipman, Lydia Quarles, Kim Hardy, Hannon LLC, Andy Stewart, Audrey Rowe, Selom Gasina and Terrell Thomas; $400 each Lisa Ross, Amanda Alexander and Carter’s Funeral Home; $300 each from Edderion Cole, Shannon A. Jones, Keith James and Jesse Smith; $250 each from Broderick Colom, Joneeta Mosley, Charisse Winston, Sanford Knott, Gerald Mumford, Christopher Bell, Licia Raiford, John Westmoreland, Charles Doughty, Warren “Mitch” Winston, Michelle Amos, Kelsey Rushing, David Alade, Louis Conley, Steve Orlansky, Takiyah Perkins, Jeff Hosford, Hardy Investments, Dianne Feldman; and $225 from Percy Bland.
Colom has reported spending only $11,864.93 to date and has $101,096.07 on hand.
Dalrymple’s donors

In the last period, Dalrymple’s itemized donations included $1,000 each from Doug Dalrymple, RECSI, Lee Family Enterprise, Jean Taylor and Otis Taylor; $500 each from G. Barry White, Frank Hopper, Brenda Howard and Denise Good; and $300 from B.J.’s Family Pharmacy.
All of Dalrymple’s itemized contributions came from in-state donors.
To date, his campaign has reported spending $4,584.29 and has $27,886.80 on hand.
District 41 Rep. race

Incumbent Democrat Kabir Karriem added $2,400 to his reelection campaign coffers last period.
He received $750 from ENPAC, $500 each from Kathy Novotny and Ten One Strategies; $250 each from Derrick Simmons and Optometry for Progress; and $125 in non-itemized donations.
To date, Karriem has reported $6,750 in contributions and $5,623.98 in spending, with $1,126.02 on hand.
His libertarian opponent Claude Simpson filed paperwork with the secretary of state’s office terminating his fundraising in May, having raised no funds. He is still on the ballot.
