The state Board of Education Friday awarded Columbus Municipal School District $180, 113.85 in grant funds through Enhancing Education through Technology, or E2T2, for Project Tech4Teens.
CMSD was one of nine districts awarded this grant from a competitive field of about 30 applicants.
Project Tech4Teens grant funds will be used to bring state-of-the art technology to the Ninth Grade Freshman Academy at Columbus High School, according to CMSD Assistant Superintendent Dr. Martha Liddell.
The project goal is to actively engage research-based technology integration strategies and systematic professional development to close the “digital divide” among students.
“Project Tech4Teens will place the power of wireless computing with the Promethean ActivClassroom System in the ninth-grade classrooms to engage students with interactive instruction,” CMSD stated in a press release. “The heart of the project will also be the implementation of a one-to-one learning environment in order for students and teachers to have constant and immediate access to technology and the digital world.
“The project”s technology integration plan uses advanced technology to immerse teachers and students in a collaborative learning environment.”
