A 30-year-old man was charged with breaking into Franklin Elementary Medical Sciences and Wellness Magnet School on Third Avenue early today.
Columbus Police Department Assistant Shift Leader and Cpl. Ed Freeland and officer Lamar Peacock responded to the burglary alarm at 501 Third Ave. N. at about 4 a.m. and found the rear door open and windows broken.
They also found Joshua Bogan, of 923 10th St. N., inside, said police Public Information Officer Terrie Songer.
“The only damage we sustained were a couple of broken windows and door, which have all been repaired at this time,” said school Principal Patricia Overstreet. “Because entrance was only gained to the cafeteria building and not the main school building we have no loss of items. I also want to say thank you to the Columbus Police Department for their quick response.”
Bogan was charged with burglary of a school. His bond has not been set.
