The Columbus City Council on Thursday voted to rezone Bluecutt Road property from an R1 single-family residential district to a C1-R neighborhood commercial restricted district.
On behalf of his daughter, Leslie Ballard, local attorney William Threadgill requested the property — 7.3 acres located at 2615 Bluecutt Road — be rezoned, so it could be sold as a location for a doctor”s office.
The request was approved by the Columbus Planning Commission in April, but was tabled by the council after families in the Beaver Creek Estates subdivision objected to the rezoning.
The four families, represented by John Beard, agreed to withdraw their objections after Threadgill agreed to provide a 60-foot buffer around the property, including a 25-foot buffer which he would deed to the neighbors.
State code requires only a 25-foot buffer zone.
