Nearly 1,000 Columbus Light and Water customers lost power Friday after a man crashed into a power pole on Northside, General Manager Angela Verdell told The Dispatch.
“Power restoration efforts were completed just before 5 a.m. (Saturday) morning,” she said. “We appreciate our crews and team members along with the Columbus Police Department for street closure, allowing CLW to safely restore the system.”
Just before 8 p.m. Friday, a vehicle struck a power pole on 23rd Street North, cutting power in parts of downtown, Southside and Highway 45.
Shawn Morris, 51, of Memphis, Tennessee, originally ran from the crash, but he was located and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, CPD Chief Joseph Daughtry said in a text to The Dispatch.
