McCaskill joins Leading Edges Advertising
Kristen Kittle McCaskill has joined Leading Edges Advertising to sell ads for the annual Official Mississippi Tour Guide.
Kristen, originally from Clarksdale, began her tourism career immediately after graduating from Mississippi State University and has spent the past 14 years in various tourism positions in Mississippi. In 2000, she joined the Mississippi Development Authority, Tourism Division. Most recently, she was project manager for International and Domestic Group Sales and Marketing for the MDA in Jackson.
In January, Kristen and her husband, Brian, along with their two daughters, relocated to Starkville.
Leading Edges works with the Mississippi Tourism Association and the Mississippi Development Authority in publishing a new edition of the Tour Guide every year. The Tour Guide includes feature stories about Mississippi attractions, extensive listings of tourism information and resources, a calendar of events, a state highway map, a comprehensive city-by-city guide to attractions and lodging and advertising from a wide variety of tourism-related businesses.
Leading Edges Advertising is a full-service advertising agency located in Meridian, offering graphic design, web design, audio/video production, public relations, marketing and media placement.
Sansing appointed to MPB Board of Directors
Perry Sansing of Columbus, has been appointed to a third term as a member of the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Authority for Educational Television, Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
Sansing is currently the assistant to the president and university counsel for Mississippi University for Women. He also is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association.
Sansing has served on the MPB Board since 2004. In 2005 he was elected vice-chairman and then served as chairman from 2006 through July 2010. His re-appointment by Gov. Haley Barbour was confirmed by the Mississippi Senate on March 22. MPB Board members are responsible for the administration, operation, control and supervision of educational television and radio in Mississippi.
Sansing holds a bachelor”s degree in history and political science and his juris doctorate degree from the University of Mississippi.
He served as law clerk for Chief Judge Charles Clark of the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals before becoming a partner in the law firms of Brunini, Grantham, Grower and Hewes and of Adams and Reese in Jackson. Sansing is the past president of the Council of School Board Attorneys, the Epilepsy Foundation of Mississippi, and Town and Tower Club of Columbus. He also served on the board of directors of the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association and the Columbus Air Force Base Community Council.
Banks selected SGB 40 under 40
Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc. is excited to announce that Varetta Banks, footwear buyer, will be honored as a recipient for their SGB 40 Under 40 award.
The recipients, selected out of a list of over 300 nominations by a panel of SportsOneSource analysts and editors and a team of industry executives, will be honored during a weekend event in Chicago June 24 – 26.
Banks has been with Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc. since April 1999. She joined Hibbett Sports after college and has held various positions within the company. She currently holds the position of Kids” Footwear Buyer.
During her tenure at Hibbett Sports, Banks has led the Kids footwear department to achieve consistent profitable growth.
In business since 1945, Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc. operates more than 800 sporting goods stores in small to mid-sized markets, predominantly in the Sunbelt, Mid-Atlantic and the lower Midwest.
Severstal supports Boys and Girls Club
The Starkville/Golden Triangle Boys and Girls Club has received a sponsorship for their Round-Up Campaign from Severstal in Columbus.
Severstal has been the main supporter of the Round-Up Campaign which helps provide research based youth development programming to deserving youth in the Golden Triangle region. Severstal raised more than $100 in the month of March. Proceeds went directly to the Boys and Girls Club.
Ebert recognized
Jason Ebert, Safety and Environmental Coordinator for Barge Forest Products located in Macon, won the Safety Achievement award with the NEMSA Presidents Award for Out-standing Achieve-ment in Workplace Safety for 2010. The dedication toward safety by Barge Forest Products employees has allow the company to obtain a low injury incident rate that was among the top 10 percent of the Saw Mill Industry in the United States.
