Luther Shields has taken the role of advertising sales representative in Oktibbeha and Clay counties for The Dispatch.
He replaced Mary Jane Runnels, who retired at the end of February.
In his new role, Shields will work with local businesses to “get their value out to the community,” he said.
Shields, 34, is an Aberdeen native who has worked as a Dispatch advertising sales representative in Columbus and Lowndes County since January 2019. Before that, he spent almost a decade in restaurant management with Eat With Us Group.
“I’m excited about being in a community that values local businesses and to work with them to bring their products to the forefront,” Shields said.
Advertising Director Beth Proffitt said she is confident Shields will thrive in his new role.
“We are very pleased to have Luther take over as our Starkville and West Point sales representative,” she said. “Luther has been a member of our team for several years and has a keen ability to create and foster business relationships to help his clients promote their businesses. He will continue to create those new contacts and work with local business owners, and we look forward to participating in his success.”
