Bridgett Alexander has recently been named director for inpatient nursing at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. She will oversee the overall operation of the hospital’s medical/surgical, medical oncology and surgical/pediatrics units; transitional care; trauma care; wound care; administration/house supervisors; float pool; inpatient dialysis; and patient placement departments. Alexander has served as nurse manager for the hospital’s surgical/pediatric floor and transitional care unit since 2009. Originally from Columbus, Alexander received both an associate and bachelors degree in nursing from Mississippi University for Women. She also received an executive masters of nursing degree from the University of Memphis Loewenberg School of Nursing. She received a Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML) credential through the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and (AACN) and the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE).
Alexander began her career at Baptist Golden Triangle in 2001 and since then has worked in several different nursing roles including patient care assistant, unit clerk, staff RN, charge nurse, head nurse and nurse manager before her most recent promotion to director of inpatient nursing. “We are very excited that Bridgett accepted the position of director of inpatient nursing,” said Mary Ellen Sumrall, Baptist Golden Triangle’s chief nursing officer. “She started here in 2001 as a patient care assistant, and she is a wonderful example of what can be accomplished when you work hard and develop your leadership skills,” she said. “She is a proven leader, and I am very excited to have Bridgett’s expertise and talent leading these inpatient nursing departments.”
