Ever heard of Neon Pig Cafe in Tupelo?
It’s a small butcher shop/food bar with a big reputation on North Gloster Street that offers nifty sandwiches, tacos, craft beer and burgers made from north Mississippi cows and pigs. It opened two-plus years ago. Mitchell McCamey, the owner, confirmed Wednesday that he has plans to open a Columbus location this year.
McCamey told The Dispatch he has a “killer location” lined up, but declined to say where until all specifics are worked out.

Moving on.
Some Columbus vehicle dealerships are upgrading their facilities.
Carl Hogan Automotive on Highway 45 North plans on upgrading its GM showroom’s interior and exterior, according to Clyde Rhea, the dealership’s general manager. Some new equipment will be installed in the service drive, as well. The goal is to get customers in and out faster, Rhea said.
Construction will begin in about a month. Everything should be complete by summer, Rhea said.
Carl Hogan Automotive, located at 2333 Hwy. 45 N., has roughly 60 employees.
Meanwhile, Premier Ford has had some construction underway at its Highway 45 North location since August. Here’s the rundown: A 28,000-square-foot structure is being built that, when complete, will house the dealership’s parts, service and sales department, according to Stan Gunnels, sales manager. The goal is to make the dealership more customer friendly.
When the building is complete — it’s on schedule for the end of May — the other buildings on the property will be torn down, Gunnels said.
Premier Ford, located at 2120 Hwy. 45 N., has roughly 58 employees.
Next up: The Golden Triangle is losing a RadioShack.
The Texas-based electronic retail chain that began in 1921 filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last week. The company will sell the majority of its 4,200 locations. The rest will be closed in coming weeks.
The company released a list of the 1,784 stores it plans on closing. Of the three local RadioShacks — there is one in Columbus, one in Starkville, one in West Point — only the West Point location is being shuttered, according to the company’s corporate website. Sales on headphones, toys, batteries and other items are underway.
The West Point store occupies roughly 2,000 square feet at 1321 Hwy. 45 S.
Columbus has a new boutique.
Viola Charm Boutique & Consignment opened Saturday at 2022 Suite B. Hwy. 45 N. — next to Scrubs and Co., across from Sweet Peppers.
Carla Pritchett, the owner, said the store has approximately 11 boutique vendors who offer their products beneath Viola Charm’s roof.
“We offer a unique shopping experience under one roof,” Pritchett said. “Something for everyone from baby, kids, teens, men and women.”
The store occupies 1,350 square feet. It is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The phone number is 662-570-9266.
Lastly, StinkyFeet Athletics in Starkville announced this week that they are closing. The store is located at 122 E. Main St.
The business’ Twitter account posted this Tuesday: “The Starkville location is closing its doors. Hours are officially 2-6 p.m., Monday through Friday, while supplies last. Product is moving very quickly!”
