An autopsy confirmed a body found Nov. 20 at the former Sanderson Plumbing facility as 34-year-old Nashieka Dobbs, according to a press release Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant issued Friday.
The preliminary report from the state medical examiner’s office in Pearl is waiting for toxicology results to determine Dobbs’ cause of death. Tested toxicology samples should determine whether any toxic substances were in Dobbs’ system.
The autopsy did not reveal a gunshot, knife wound, strangulation or head trauma, Merchant’s press release said. The only injuries noted were a superficial laceration and a broken extremity.
“Elements and evidence in this case (make) it a very suspicious death,” Merchant said in the press release.
Dobbs was last seen alive Nov. 6. Her family reported her missing Nov. 11, then a family member along with a Columbus police detective found the body nine days later.
Jamar Hughes, Dobbs’ boyfriend who lives near the old Sanderson plant, has been charged with Dobbs’ murder.
