An Artesia teenager was arrested Friday and charged in connection with a March 29 robbery in Lowndes County.
Anthony Hill Jr., 18, of Artesia was arrested at about 11 p.m. Friday for traffic violations. He was later charged with one count of robbery by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office in connection to an assault and robbery that occurred in March.
According to a press release issued by LCSO, Hill, along with three others – Diquavious Gray, 19, Zykeriya Wilbon, 19, and Dekhia Wood, 20 – are accused of assaulting and robbing a victim on Gilmer Wilburn Road.
The assault was reported at 1:30 a.m. March 29 in the 100 block of Ellis Loop in Artesia.
Officers found the victim had suffered a broken nose, chipped tooth and other injuries requiring medical attention. The victim identified Hill and the others as the attackers.
According to the press release, Hill and Wood picked the victim up in a car in Artesia.
While driving along Gilmer Wilburn Road, Hill pretended to have car trouble and stopped the vehicle. Hill and Wood exited the car and opened the trunk, where Wilbon and Gray were hidden. Wilbon then pulled the victim from the car and began assaulting her. The victim stated that both Hill and Gray participated in the attack.
At one point, Wilbon reportedly ordered someone to “go get the pistol,” but the victim blacked out and couldn’t confirm if a firearm was involved. During the altercation, the suspects stole the victim’s cell phone.
The investigation is ongoing, and further charges are expected, the release said. Deputies are still searching for Gray, Wilbon and Wood.
Anyone with further information is asked to reach out to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office at (662) 328-6788 or to contact Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
