The Columbus Fire Department continues to investigate a Wednesday morning fire at a local apartment complex.
According to Columbus Fire Chief Kenneth Moore, the fire occurred at 403 15th St. S. at a house that had been converted into four apartments.
“We do not know the cause of the fire as it remains under investigation. The main damage was done to one apartment of the four-apartment complex,” Moore said.
Battalion Chief Mike McReynolds said the department received a call from 911 at 10:22 a.m.
“Three engines and Fire Department 2 Battalion Chief Ricky Graves were sent to the fire, and were on the scene for two hours,” he said.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control at 11:01 a.m., a half hour after receiving the call, McReynolds said.
As to the extent of the damage, McReynolds said he is not sure.
“That is still being investigated at this time,” he said.
Moore said there were no smoke detectors in the apartments.
“No one was home at the time of the fire, and no one was hurt,” he said.
