Lowndes County Emergency Management Agency will conduct its annual active shooter drill Thursday on the Mississippi University for Women campus.
Director Cindy Lawrence said the full-scale exercise will begin at 8 a.m. and should be completed within two hours. There will be first responders and emergency vehicles on campus as they practice how to respond to an active shooter scenario.
“We’ll be actually doing a command set up (and) the things we would do in the event of a real (active shooter),” Lawrence told The Dispatch.
Lawrence said the drill will not interrupt any campus activities, and there is no need for the public to avoid the area during that time.
