Lowndes County sheriff’s deputies are seeking a suspect in a Sunday shooting near South Pickensville and Yorkville roads.
The victim was traveling south on Yorkville Road at about 11 p.m. and turned onto South Pickensville Road when someone in a vehicle following the victim opened fire with a 9-millimeter handgun, according to a sheriff’s office press release. Deputies who responded to the scene found nine bullet holes in the victim’s vehicle and recovered shell casings from the scene, but the victim was not hit.
The victim could not identify the suspect. Investigators are seeking surveillance from the area to see if there is video of the shooting.
This is the second drive-by style shooting in the county since Saturday, when an Aliceville, Alabama, man was shot in his car on Bluecutt Road in Columbus. Sheriff Eddie Hawkins told The Dispatch this morning there is no evidence at this time that the two shootings are related.
