After a little more than a month advertising the cafe’s sale, The Dismuke family sold Cafe on Main this month.
The downtown home-style restaurant, 101 Fifth St. S., will start the new year under the ownership of brothers Steve and Jeff Pyle.
Elliot Dismukes, previous cafe owner, announced the ownership change on Facebook.
“Shannon and I would like to thank everyone for (their) support at Cafe on Main,” Dismukes’ post read. “We really appreciate each and everyone of our customers. We wanted to let everyone know that we sold the restaurant to Jeff and Steve Pyle. They will be keeping all the same employees and using all the same recipes.”
Steve said the cafe will maintain its home-style plates, recipes and sweet shop.
“We really just wanted to continue Cafe on Main,” Steve said. “We want to keep something good for downtown Columbus. We will be adding some different things in the future that will make it even better.”
He added before opening, the brothers will be painting and revamping the inside of the restaurant. For those loyal customers looking for restaurant updates be sure to check out Cafe on Main on Facebook.
Also, Columbus is adding another sandwich shop along Highway 45.
By this summer, Firehouse Subs will open shop at 1914 Hwy 45 N. The sub shop first opened in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1994 and has expanded to more than 1,100 franchises in more than 40 states.

Over in Starkville, the long awaited second Strange Brew Coffeehouse location held its soft opening Monday afternoon at 401 University Dr. Suite 7.
Owner Shane Reed said full service hours will start Jan. 6 to kick off Mississippi State University’s spring semester schedule. Reed added the coffee shop is slated to open 5:30 a.m. to midnight with new items and surprises to offer its loyal customers.
“Over the next few weeks we’ll be rolling out a new food menu and some other fun secrets that we’ve never had at the original Strange Brew,” Reed said in a message to The Dispatch. “… We’re super excited to bring something new and fresh to Starkville. There’s a reason why we chose to open another location in Starkville and it’s because of the amazing community that has supported us for 15 years. We have some tricks up our sleeves and can’t wait to roll them out over the next few weeks.”
