WEST POINT – A vape deal turned into a shootout Sunday evening, leaving one teen dead and two others injured.
West Point police officers responded at about 5:30 p.m. to a reported shooting at Ridgewood East Apartment Complex, Chief Michael Edwards told The Dispatch.
Upon arrival, officers found Jordan Logan, 15, dead at the scene. Two other victims, ages 17 and 18, suffered gunshot wounds.
The 17-year-old was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point, and the 18-year-old was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for treatment. Both are in “stable condition,” Edwards said.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a deal involving the sale of vapes, Edwards said.
Edwards said investigators believe the deceased and two injured victims were the only ones involved in the shooting. However, it is possible more suspects could be involved, he said.
The injured suspects will not be booked into jail until after they recover from their injuries.
“We have officers at the hospital that’s been there since (Sunday) and are still there (waiting for) these individuals (who) are undergoing surgery and things of that sort,” Edwards said. “… We feel that we have all the shooters in custody, besides the deceased.”
