STARKVILLE —The Woman’s Club of Starkville kicked off its 2025-26 season by having Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill speak at its Sept. 9 meeting held at the First Baptist Church.
President Libba Andrews opened the meeting and Second Vice President Pattie Little introduced speaker Spruill to the members.
Spruill provided an excellent overview of the numerous construction and improvement projects currently underway in the City of Starkville. Of special interest was the progress on the Main Street Redesign and Highway 182 Revitalization construction.
“The wider sidewalks downtown will provide space for outside dining along with seating areas and flowerpots,” Spruill said, in reference to the Main Street Redesign. “We want to have something for people to enjoy from City Hall to Lee Hall.”
She expressed the goal is to have downtown composed of retail, restaurant and residential properties, which will bring a vibrancy to the area.
Hostesses for the September meeting were Christie Lawrence, Linda Mason, Sharon Nobles, Beverly Slaughter and Patsy Stuart.
