Some 2,000 years ago, God showed us how much He loved us by sending His only Son to die for our sins. This is one of the many reasons the resurrection of Jesus is of utmost importance to us as believers because through Him we can have these things.
• Comfort in our Suffering – As believers in Christ, we will have to suffer some things. However, Jesus’ resurrection assures us that Jesus is right here to comfort us. He understands what it means for us to suffer on a deep and personal level because He endured unimaginable suffering, humiliation, and death on the cross. “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for his sake.” (Philippians 1:29) KJV
• Victory in Jesus – We can have confidence knowing that Jesus has already won the ultimate victory over sin and death. Through His resurrection we can share in that victory through our faith in Him. “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57) KJV
• Gives us hope in Jesus – Jesus’ resurrection is a powerful symbol of hope for all of humanity. No matter how hard life may seem, there is always hope and redemption available through Jesus Christ. This hope that Jesus gives us is a new perspective on our present circumstances. “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.” (Psalm 31:24) KJV
• Salvation – Everyone who believes that Jesus died for their sins, was buried, and rose again can have salvation through the resurrection of Jesus. This is the only way to receive eternal salvation with God the Father. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12) KJV
• Forgiveness from our sins – Jesus’ resurrection is proof of His power to forgive sins. The forgiveness that Jesus offers is not just a one-time event but an ongoing reality. We will continue to sin and fall short, but His forgiveness is always there for us. As we confess our sins and turn to Him, we can experience His grace and mercy. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9) KJV
So be encouraged today and always remember: Through Jesus’ resurrection, we can have these things and more because Jesus died, but on the third day, He rose again. “He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.” (1 Corinthians 15:4) NLT
Happy Resurrection Day!
