All of us at some point in life will reach a breaking point but when we do we need to do these things:
■ Release our frustrations to God – Some people can make us so frustrated, especially the ones that get on our very last nerves. They know just what to say or do to bring us to our breaking point. In times like these, we have to release our frustrations to God; He cares deeply for us. “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) KJV
■ Surrender to God for help — We all face challenges, setbacks, and obstacles that can make us feel like we’re at our breaking point. Maybe it’s a personal struggle, a difficult work situation, or the weight of the world on our shoulders. There are moments when we just want to give up and say “enough is enough!” During these times, we have to surrender to God for help. “Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.” (Psalm 54:4) NIV
■ Let go and let God – In our everyday lives, we may go through many difficulties. It can be an unexpected death of a loved one, a bad report concerning our health, or a financial crisis that causes us to lose everything. When we reach this place of intense pressure it will cause us to reach our breaking point. In such a time as this, we have to let go and let God give us peace in the midst of it all. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7) KJV
■ Resist becoming bitter— Bitterness is often a by-product of finding ourselves over stressed to the point we reach our breaking point. That’s why we have to resist becoming bitter and not allow it to take root in our hearts. Bitterness can lead to trouble and defilement, affecting not only ourselves but also those around us. “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:” (Ephesians 4:31) KJV
■ Stop and pray — When we come to the point where we have reached our breaking point we need to be quick to pray. Prayer changes our perspective on even the most difficult circumstances. No matter what we go through, our response is always to pray first. “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” (Luke 18:1) KJV
So be encouraged today and always remember: We’re never alone when we reach our breaking point because God is with us. “For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5) KJV
