In life, we often face spiritual, emotional, and physical attacks from the devil. He’s always plotting against us and looking for an opportunity to attack us. That’s why as believer, we have to stay ready so when he comes to attack us, we can do these things:
• Resist the devil — The devil has many ways to attack us; through sickness, temptation, manipulations, lies and etc. However, when we submit ourselves to God and rely on His strength, we can resist any attack the devil throws our way. This gives us the assurance that when we stand against the devil, he will have to back down.” Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7) KJV
• Speak the word of God — We are never to face our enemy with our mouth shut. We should know the word of God so when the devil come to attack us, we can speak it like Jesus did. When we release God’s Word through our mouth, we release God’s power. “But he answered and said, it is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) KJV
• Use the authority Jesus has given us over him. When we use the authority Jesus has given us, we can withstand any attacks of the devil. Whatever the challenge that is confronting us, we have the power to defeat the devil and there’s nothing he can do to harm us. “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19) NKJV
• Know that Jesus is greater than the devil — As children of God, we can find comfort in knowing that the power of God within us is greater than any power the devil possesses. We are not defenseless or alone in our battles against the devil. God’s presence within us gives us the strength and victory to overcome the attacks of the devil. “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4) KJV
• Put on the whole amour of God. — God has provided us with a spiritual armor to protect us from the attacks of the devil. By putting on the full armor of God daily, we will be equipped to stand firm against the devil schemes and remain victorious. “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (Ephesians 6:11) NIV
So be encouraged today and always remember: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:7) KJV
