Christian mothers play an important role in their children’s lives and these are just a few of them:
• She loves and cares for her children. It’s an unconditional love that will never end for her children, just as God’s love will never end for us. Even when they disappoint her, make a mistake or behave badly, she still loves them. “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.” (Lamentations 3:22) NIV
• She’s very protective of her children. A Christian mother will always protect her children against any form of danger; just like God does us. Nothing can stand in her way when it comes to keeping her children safe. Whether our children are grown or infants, we are always drawn to protect them. There are many things that we do to protect them that they see and experience daily. “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10) KJV
• She’s a good listener. When our children are upset about something, the first person they will come to is their mother. We have to take time to listen to them and offer them comfort. Comforting a child is a natural response to them as they go through difficult times. God does us the same way. “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.” (Isaiah 66:13) NIV
• She teaches her children the word of God. As it penetrates their souls, it will lead and guide them to do the right things in their lives. “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” (Deuteronomy 6:7) KJV
• She resolves conflicts. Sometimes our children have conflicts with children at school, with friends, or even their siblings. As Christian mothers, we have to be there to encourage them and build them up by giving them godly advice. This will help them know how to face conflicts when it comes into their lives. “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11) NIV
• She disciplines her children when they do something wrong. Discipline plays an important role in children’s lives. It helps correct them so they will know right from wrong. “Discipline your children, and they will give you peace of mind and will make your heart glad.” (Proverbs 29:17) NLT
So be encouraged today mothers and always remember: A Christian mothers that plays a big role in their children’s lives and lives godly deserves to be honored by her children and husband. “Her children arise up, and called her blessed, her husband also, and he praiseth her.” (Proverbs 31:28) KJV
Happy Mothers’ Day to all the mothers!
