Columbus-Lowndes Public Library System will celebrate National Library Week with delicious art inspired by literary works.
The sixth Edible Book Festival will take place at the library on April 25.
Participants will make “books” out of food, which are inspired by literary titles, characters or authors.
Submissions are being accepted from all ages and the deadline to register is April 17.
The works will be showcased on the first floor of the library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 25, and members of the public will vote for their favorite entries.
At 4 p.m., the top three winners will be announced, and each will receive gift cards provided by Friendly City Books.
“Since its inception in 1999, the International Edible Book Festival is held annually on or around April 1 — the birthday of Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826), the French author of a witty book on food entitled ‘Physiologie du goût.’” Read the press release from CLPLS. “Dozens of libraries and cultural organizations around the world have held their own festivals to celebrate his work.”
The festival is free and open to the public.
Anyone wishing to submit an entry can pick up a form in-person at the library, by calling (662) 329-5304, or emailing [email protected].
