Get ready to sing, laugh and be inspired. Golden Triangle Theatre, in partnership with Mississippi University for Women Theatre, will bring the beloved musical Godspell to life this weekend. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the MUW Cromwell Theatre, 620 10th St. S.
With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin) and a book by John-Michael Tebelak, Godspell transforms the parables of the Gospel of Matthew into a high-energy celebration of music, humor and human connection. First staged in 1971, the show has become a classic for its uplifting songs, playful comedy and timeless message of compassion, kindness and the joy of community.
Directed by Pattye Archer, with musical direction by Garrett Torbert and Zane Lynn, the production features a dynamic ensemble cast including Emeri Cannada, Allison Jones, Zane Lynn, Ariana Rosado, Matthew Sharkey, Garrett Torbert, Lauren Trimm, Christie Tyndall and Vatreecia Young.
“Godspell is a burst of joy, laughter and music that reminds us why community matters,” Archer said. “I am thrilled to bring this show to life with such a talented cast, band and crew. It will make you smile, think, tap your feet, laugh – and just enjoy the experience.”
This collaboration between Golden Triangle Theatre and MUW Theatre promises an uplifting experience that highlights the enduring power of creativity, togetherness and joy. Tickets are available at www.goldentriangletheatre.com, and are $30 for adults and $15 for students.
