Downtown Columbus will light up for the holidays Nov. 6-8 as the city hosts its annual Christmas Open House, offering shoppers three days of festive fun, unique gifts and seasonal treats.
The event runs Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m., giving residents and visitors plenty of time to explore local shops. Merchants will feature holiday décor, clothing, jewelry, art, books, games and more, alongside special discounts and promotions for the season.
Barbara Bigelow, executive director of Main Street Columbus, said the Open House is a long-standing tradition that marks the official start of the holiday season.
“It’s a time for families, friends and visitors to come downtown, enjoy the festive atmosphere, and find those special one-of-a-kind gifts,” Bigelow said. “Supporting local businesses during this time helps keep our community thriving, and it’s always exciting to see the creativity and spirit our merchants bring to the season.”
Shoppers also have a chance to win a grand door prize valued at approximately $1,500, including gift cards and merchandise from participating businesses.
Downtown restaurants will be open throughout the weekend, offering a perfect spot for lunch or dinner while browsing. The event is sponsored by the City of Columbus, Brislin, Inc., and Cumulus Broadcasting.
The Christmas Open House kicks off a series of downtown holiday events. Visitors can continue the festive fun at the Holiday Farmers’ Market on Nov. 21, Small Business Saturday on Nov. 28, the Columbus Christmas Parade on Dec. 6, and Wassail Fest on Dec. 4. Santa and Miz Claus will also be available for photos at The Southern Venue during Wassail Fest.
