One sign of the impending holiday season is the Columbus Arts Council’s ARTfordable annual exhibit and sale. For two months, November and December, the main gallery of the Rosenzweig Arts Center in downtown Columbus will be filled with original artwork by area artists, all priced at $100 or less.
“This is an exhibit we enjoy doing every year,” said CAC Executive Director Tina Sweeten-Lunsford. “It gives so many artists an opportunity to display and, we hope, sell their work, and the community is able to acquire original pieces at a very affordable price, just in time for the holidays.”
ARTfordable typically includes pieces in a variety of mediums, ranging from oils to water colors, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry and photography.
“I always make a point of checking out the show when I’m purchasing Christmas presents,” said Sandra Bell of Columbus. “I’ve found gifts for family members, as well as something I had to have for myself.”
Artists may submit up to six pieces. All must be priced at no more than $100 (including the gallery commission). Artwork must be delivered, ready to hang or display, to the Rosenzweig Arts Center, 501 Main St., on Friday, Oct. 31, or Saturday, Nov. 1 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Application forms to submit with artwork may be downloaded at columbus-arts.com.
Artists must attach their name, the name of the piece and the price to the back of each submitted item. Artwork without this information cannot be displayed, said Aislinn Noltie, who is coordinating the exhibit.
Art will be on display and for sale throughout November and December. The show’s opening reception is Thursday, Nov. 6, 5-7 p.m.
