Traditions, Taste and Tunes – WWI Memorial Dedication

Traditions, Taste and Tunes is a meaningful Memorial Day weekend tradition in Columbus, Mississippi, bringing the community together for a blend of remembrance, celebration, and small-town charm.

The weekend begins Friday morning with the dedication of a WWI Memorial at the Courthouse at 10 a.m.

That evening, the Riverwalk Stage comes alive from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with live music by Artistic Band, creating a lively backdrop for an evening along the water. Guests can enjoy a variety of food vendors, family-friendly kids’ activities, and a special flyover that adds a patriotic touch to the evening’s festivities.

On Saturday, the spirit of remembrance continues as the American Legion places flags at Friendship Cemetery at 9:00 a.m., followed by a ceremony at 11:00 a.m. honoring the sacrifices of service members.

Friday, 9 am – Placement of Flags at Sandfield Cemetery

Friday, 10 am – Dedication of WWI Memorial
Friday, 4:00-7:00 pm – Live music, food, and kids activities at the Riverwalk Stage
Saturday, 8:00-11:00 am – Placement of flags at Friendship Cemetery, followed by a ceremony honoring the sacrifices of our armed forces
