The Oktibbeha County Sheriff”s Office is looking for suspects involved in the theft of two four-wheelers from Village Cycle Center.
OCSO deputies responded to a call July 19, when owner Carl Ivey discovered a hole cut in the chain-link fence behind the building where showroom inventory is housed.
The four-wheelers stolen are a white 2011 Suzuki Eiger valued at $6,200 and a 2011 Kawasaki 750 Brute Force valued at $8,500.
Village Cycle Center, located at the 1271 Highway 82 E., had an attempted break-in July 17 when someone tripped the alarm. Ivey said there wasn”t any merchandise missing during the first break-in attempt.
Village Cycle Center is closed on Sunday and Monday.
“I was very much surprised,” Ivey said. “I wouldn”t have thought they would have come back. Evidently, they had more time or more help the second time around.”
Ivey said the July 18 burglary was the first at Village Cycle Center in seven years, when he remodeled his store to prevent break-ins that were as frequent as twice a year. He removed the all-glass exterior in the showroom and replaced it with windows that extend from the ceiling to about waist-high.
The fencecurrently behind the store is eight-feet high with barbed wire across the top. The four-wheelers, though, had keys in them, Ivey said.
“They”re not in them anymore, but they were in them that night,” Ivey said. “We usually drive them from the back to the front each day, usually putting about eight to 10 out there.”
