A Parchman inmate convicted of capital murder in Lowndes County 20 years ago has died in prison, according to a Mississippi Department of Corrections press release.
Quintez Hodges, 40, who was also convicted of kidnapping, was sentenced to death in September 2001, according to MDOC records. He was in custody at the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman when he died Saturday, the release said.
Officials did not release a cause of death, but Hodges’ body will undergo an autopsy by a medical examiner who “operates independently of MDOC,” the release said.
Hodges was serving a sentence for the death of Isaac Johnson, 17, in 1999 and for kidnapping Johnson’s sister, Cora Johnson, and her baby, according to previous reporting by The Associated Press. He was also serving time for an unrelated burglary charge.
