The honors for many local high school football athletes are still rolling in even after the conclusion of the football season last week.
The Mississippi Association of Coaches released the selections to its All-State teams for each classification and leading the way is West Point with seven players honored.
In Class 5A, the Green Wave’s Quintin Thompson took home Co-Offensive Player of the Year and defensive lineman Dee Haughton earned the nod for Defensive Player of the Year. Offensive lineman Aiden Brooks nabbed a first-team offense selection, and Defensive lineman Jorden Rush made first-team defense. On second-team defense are lineman Tytus Davidson, linebacker Shammarion McKinney and safety Kasavion Shelton. From New Hope, running back Jacob Jefferson made the first-team offense, and offensive lineman Micah Butler was selected to the second-team.
In Class 3A, Noxubee County had five Tigers make the All-State team. Jadien Taylor was named the Offensive Player of the Year, offensive lineman Chaddrick Windham made the second-team offense, B.J. Payton made the first-team defense and both lineman Jheremy Payton and Jamarious Little made second-team defense.
In Class 2A, West Lowndes had two selections from its football program. Defensive lineman Trenee Robertson and linebacker Jakylen Lucious were both second-team defense honorees.
