Andrew Tate has millions of followers on what is weirdly called the “manosphere” online. Millions of men follow him, even though (or, perhaps, because) he has been charged with rape and human trafficking in the U.K. and human trafficking in Romania. He is currently at liberty, thanks to heavy pressure from President Trump (whom Tate aggressively supports) on the Romanian government. Tate is a self-described misogynist who makes hatred of women a lifestyle, legally or illegally. President Trump claims that Tate and his brother, also indited, were victims of USAID-funded programs that targeted people who “weren’t woke.” I guess thinking that women should not be raped or forced into prostitution is “woke.” Silly ole me always thought that that was just common decency.
But hey, Mr. Tate is a Trump supporter. If a man (perhaps not a woman) supports President Trump, his crimes are irrelevant.
Mr. Tate claims online that his Romanian charges have been dismissed, but they have not.
On another note, the president of Argentina is facing impeachment for promoting a little-known crypto-currency on social media ($Libra), costing investors millions when it tanked. He apparently took his cue from President Trump, who launched $Trump meme-coins, promoting it online, which cost millions of Americans millions of dollars when it tanked. (One guess as to whose pockets the money they lost went in.) The Argentine legislature thinks this is actionable. Speaker Johnson would laugh at such a suggestion here.
