The East Mississippi Community College rodeo teams closed out the fall portion of their NIRA Ozark Region schedule with a third-place women’s finish and a fourth-place men’s showing at the Murray State University Racer Roundup this past weekend. The three-day collegiate rodeo concluded Saturday night at the Bill Cherry Expo Center.
The Lions edged Missouri Valley College to win the men’s event 610 points to 580.
The East Mississippi Community College women’s rodeo team finished first and the men’s team finished second at the Three Rivers College Championship College Rodeo over the weekend in Sikeston, Missouri.
Six men dragged metal fencing and gates through the coarse sand at Eagle Ranch in West Point on Tuesday afternoon.
They linked up the gates, and piece by piece pens began to emerge that will contain tense cowboys and eager beasts Friday and Saturday night. They mounted a sign that read “Welcome Rodeo Fans.” The men moved efficiently — they’ve done this before.
