Starkville is soon to begin work on a roughly $1.6 million multi-use path extension along Louisville Street.
Work on the widening of Louisville Street is behind schedule according to Starkville City Engineer Edward Kemp, and news that the construction will continue is drawing mixed reactions from business owners on the stretch of road.
STARKVILLE — The initial phase of the Louisville Street widening project is set to begin Monday.
Traffic will be greatly affected, as construction will force the street to one lane. At no point during construction will the street completely close, said Aaron Gregory, of Columbus-based Gregory Construction.
Engineers are finalizing plans for the Louisville Street widening project and hope to see construction begin by next summer.
As John and Lakeisha Randle walked along the side of Louisville Street Monday afternoon, traffic passed by just feet from where the duo stepped diligently over gravel, grass patches and driveways.
