Tuesday night, the Columbus City Council considered a request for a 30-day extension on its agreement to bring bus service to the city.
Our view: It’s time to stop waiting for the bus
It’s been almost 15 months since the Columbus City Council agreed on a one-year contract that would allow an Indiana bus company to operate routes in the city.
We are happy to report there have been no bus crashes, hijacking, traffic congestion, rate hikes or complaints about the service in that time.
Of course, there have been no buses, either.
Council to bus company: Be rolling by Aug. 9
The City of Columbus has drawn a line in the sand with Lawrence Transit System: The company must either begin providing bus services to the city by Aug. 9 or there will likely be no bus service at all.
City Council expects update on city bus service
The proposed city bus service will once again appear before the Columbus City Council Tuesday night.
Dorothy Dowdell of Lawrence Public Transit is scheduled to address the council during the citizens input portion of the council meeting to update mayor Robert Smith and the councilmen on the status of the bus line.
