A city school teacher indicted for fraud in connection with a test-taking scheme has resigned from her position with the Columbus Municipal School District.
Nine months after being indicted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office on fraud charges relating to a nationwide testing scam, a teacher is still on paid leave with the Columbus Municipal School District.
A north Mississippi mayor accused of misusing taxpayer money on several purchases including at a Canadian sex shop was indicted Tuesday on one count each of embezzlement, false pretense and making fraudulent statements.
Noel Everett Sumrall, 66, was arrested Monday by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Sumrall had been out on bond, which had been set at $7,500, before being indicted in federal court on Aug. 30 on child pornography charges.
German Terrel Smith was last week indicted by a federal grand jury on one count possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
