Former co-workers raise money for murder victim’s family
In a time of tragedy, local restaurateurs have banded together to help one of their own.
Two weeks ago, 31-year-old Quinton Hill died after being shot during what police say was a robbery attempt at his Columbus home. On Monday, former Front Door/Back Door Restaurant owner Sarah Labensky and her staff gathered at Zachary’s restaurant to raise money for Hill’s family, which includes Hill’s infant daughter.

The Columbus City Council has agreed to take under advisement a request to extend two-hour parking to two rows of spaces located in a lot behind the Front Door/Back Door restaurant on Main Street.

Patrons of the Front Door-Back Door restaurant have reasons to celebrate. First, far from closing Sept. 8 as had been originally announced, the doors of “the Door” — one of downtown Columbus’ most popular eateries since 1996 — remain open. And second, even as departing owner and chef Sarah Labensky turns over the keys to new proprietors Jim Lewis and Steve McLemore, she has released a much-anticipated cookbook.
