Starkville completes first phase of road paving
The city of Starkville has completed the first phase of road work for a $7.5 million capital improvement project.
City Engineer Edward Kemp updated aldermen on the project’s progress at Tuesday’s board of aldermen meeting.
City engineer placed on 6-month probation
Starkville Aldermen placed City Engineer Edward Kemp on six-month probation after almost two hours of closed-door discussions with him, the city planner and developer Clayton Richardson Tuesday.
Aldermen gave no reasoning behind their move, and the city did not disclose a vote breakdown when officials announced the personnel matter.
Louisville Street construction to begin this week
STARKVILLE — The initial phase of the Louisville Street widening project is set to begin Monday.
Traffic will be greatly affected, as construction will force the street to one lane. At no point during construction will the street completely close, said Aaron Gregory, of Columbus-based Gregory Construction.
Road, bridge work continues around Starkville
Drivers who use Old West Point Road can expect delays and lane closures this week as work begins on a bridge north of Pat Station Road.
