Instead of doing his job as executive director of the Columbus-Lowndes Recreation Authority as a solitary figure, Short relished the opportunity to identify areas he could help improve the quality of life in the city of Columbus and in Lowndes County.

The Columbus-Lowndes Recreation Authority board of directors meet monthly in a small conference room at Propst Park. These are generally low-profile meetings. There are eight chairs for visitors placed along two walls of the small room, but they are usually unoccupied. There is rarely any media at these meetings.
CLRA faces soccer coach shortage
The Columbus-Lowndes Recreation Authority is looking for soccer coaches for the upcoming season.
