Unemployment varies across Golden Triangle
Compared to last March, unemployment rates in Lowndes and Oktibbeha counties have changed little, while Clay County’s was down nearly 1 percent and Noxubee County’s was up 1 percent.
Unemployment stats show continued improvement
For the month of February, Mississippi’s jobless rate sank to the lowest it has been since October 2008. Rates in the Golden Triangle area also dropped.

July unemployment numbers fall

With the exception of Clay County, the rates were down at least more than one percentage point in Lowndes, Oktibbeha and Noxubee counties, according to the Mississippi Department of Employment Security, which released updated figures Wednesday.
Lowndes County unemployment rate rises
According to statistics released Wednesday by the Mississippi Department of Employment Security, Lowndes County has a 10.6 percent unemployment rate, an increase of 0.4-percent compared to June 2012.
Unemployment increases across Golden Triangle
Statistics released Wednesday indicated there were about 300 more people in Lowndes County last month without work than there were in May 2012.
The county’s unemployment rate is 10.1 percent — a half point above last May’s 9.6 percent. That’s about 2,750 people who are out of a job.
