Sidney sheds weight, regains focus

The Mississippi State junior center spent over a month working out with former NBA player and coach John Lucas in Houston, Texas to shed weight and improve his conditioning.
Sidney returned to campus last week 23 pounds lighter after weighing 320 pounds when he showed up in Houston in May.

STARKVILLE — After two seasons as a seldom-used backup, John Riek is no longer part of the Mississippi State basketball program.
A team spokesman confirmed Tuesday that Riek, a 7-foot-2 center from Sudan, won’t return for his junior season. He is expected to transfer.
