MSU men must improve defense to get victories

The Mississippi State men’s basketball team hasn’t had the kind of start to the second half of the Southeastern Conference season it wanted. MSU opened SEC play with victories against Arkansas, Alabama, and Vanderbilt and finished the first half of the league slate 6-2. The second eight hasn’t started so great for the Bulldogs.

 

 

Bumphis regains eligibility

A minor issue that kept Mississippi State signee Chad Bumphis from being eligible for nearly two months has been resolved. MSU asked the NCAA to reinstate Bumphis, a four-star wide receiver from Tupelo, after he was involved in a secondary rules violation with former football coach Sylvester Croom.

The Pickens County High School boys basketball team will encounter a peculiar predicament at 7 p.m. Friday when it plays at R.C. Hatch in the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 2A Central Sub-Regional Tournament. It will be the first time in 15 years that the Pickens County Tornadoes will have to travel for a sub-regional tournament game.

CALEDONIA — Tyler Aldridge is honest when he looks back at his athletic career. He always had confidence in whatever sport he played — football, soccer, or baseball — but he feels something was missing. “When I was a freshman and a sophomore, I broke down mentally,” Aldridge said. “The physical part was always there, but I wasn’t thinking.
