STARKVILLE — Following a strong season from Mississippi State men’s tennis and representation at NCAA singles championships for women’s tennis, interest in the program is high.
That interest coincided perfectly with the upcoming Hailstate tennis camps, which run Sunday through Thursday.
“Camp registration is already maxed out and we reached our capacity limit a couple of months ago,” Assistant Director of Communications Logan Lowery said.
The camp, open to children ages 9-18, is offered as both a day and overnight camp, with instruction from Mississippi State coaching staff at both the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre and Rula Tennis Pavilion.
Mississippi State men’s tennis had one of its best seasons in program history, hosting a regional for the NCAA team championships in May, where it went 2-0 against Alabama State and No. 27 Middle Tennessee.
The Bulldogs reached the Round of 16, losing to No. 2 TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
On the women’s side, graduate student Emmanouela Antonaki reached the opening round of the women’s singles championship in Orlando, losing in three sets.
Antonaki this week also became the second player in program history to be named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America, earning first-team honors.
She was named the 2023 SEC women’s tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was a five-time All-SEC honoree over her career.
