BIGGERSVILLE — The West Lowndes High School football team’s 2020 season came to an end Friday with a 36-14 loss at Biggersville in the first round of the MHSAA Class 1A playoffs.
The Panthers entered the fourth quarter trailing just 20-14 against the undefeated Lions, but the home team pulled away.
West Lowndes’ season ended with a 4-6 record.
Aliceville (Ala.) 48, Cleveland (Ala.) 42, AHSAA Class 2A playoffs, second round
CLEVELAND, Ala. — Aliceville High School (Alabama) survived Cleveland (Alabama) 48-42 in Friday’s road game to advance to the AHSAA Class 2A quarterfinals.
Landon Ball returned a kickoff 83 yards for the go-ahead score for the Yellow Jackets (8-4) with 9 minutes and 24 seconds remaining.
Ball caught two touchdown passes from Tyjarian Williams and finished with four receptions for 93 yards. On defense, Ball also intercepted two passes.
Williams ran for a touchdown and was 13 of 22 passing for 229 yards and four touchdowns. TyQuan Simon, who caught the other two touchdown passes, had six grabs for 73 yards.
Jermaine Brewer had 10 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown for Aliceville. He caught two passes for 55 yards.
Aliceville returns home to host Mars Hill Bible on Friday for a chance to make the state final four.
