Mississippi State men’s basketball forward Javian Davis has been cleared to play immediately by the NCAA following his transfer from Alabama, a MSU source confirmed to The Dispatch Thursday.
Davis, a redshirt-sophomore, will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Last season with the Crimson Tide, Davis averaged 6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting 59 percent from the floor in 31 games played.
The Canton native figures to play a key role in the frontcourt along with Abdul Ado and Tolu Smith.
Davis’ biggest game of the season last year came against South Carolina, where he recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds for his first collegiate double-double.
MSU will open the season Nov. 25 against Clemson.
