Heritage Academy won its fourth straight game with a 48-13 home victory against Bayou Academy on Friday in Columbus.
Mack Howard was 16 of 27 passing for 217 yards and three touchdowns for the Patriots. He threw scoring passes to Trey Naugher, Mitchell Woodard and Harris Gunter.
Naugher finished with four catches for 75 yards, Woodard had three receptions for 38 yards, and Gunter had three grabs for 31 yards.
Sam Hannon also had four catches for 57 yards, and Drew Huskison caught two passes for 15 yards.
Braden Davidson and Jaylan Stewart each finished with 87 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Davidson had 13 rushing attempts, and Stewart had eight.
Luke Fisher added three runs for 13 yards, and Howard had three attempts for eight yards.
The Patriots will play at Pillow Academy next week in Greenwood.
DeSoto Central 14, Columbus 7
SOUTHAVEN — Columbus fell to 0-3 this season despite another strong defensive showing with a 14-7 road loss at DeSoto Central on Friday.
Falcons quarterback Ethan Conner led the team with 118 rushing yards on 17 carries, including a touchdown. He was 9 of 14 passing for 84 yards and an interception.
Steve Cattledge had 12 solo tackles, five assisted tackles and an interception for Columbus.
The Falcons host rival New Hope (1-2) next week.
Caledonia 56, Holly Springs 15
CALEDONIA — Daniel Wilburn ran for two touchdowns, six of his teammates had rushing scores, and Caledonia got its first win of the season with a 56-15 thrashing of Holly Springs at home Friday.
Wilburn, Caledonia’s sophomore quarterback, had 14-yard and 11-yard rushing scores in the first quarter. His teammates took care of the rest.
Karsten Gullette (19-yard touchdown), Darrius Triplett (7), Anthony Fason (11), Ethan Ramirez (11), Kellen Coleman (1) and Shep Donald (4) all scored on the ground for Caledonia.
Curtavis Johnson led the team with 14 carries for 86 yards. Triplett had 66 yards on four carries, while Jayden Henderson had 65 yards on 10 carries, and Gullette had 55 yards on six attempts.
Wilburn, who finished with seven rushing attempts and 52 yards, went 2 of 3 passing with a 19-yard connection with Fason and a 9-yard toss to Gullette.
Reed Frady made all eight extra points he attempted for Caledonia. Brandon Chrest forced a fumble by Holly Springs’ Dylan King.
Caledonia has a bye week before a home game against Shannon on Oct. 2.
Starkville 35, Meridian 14
STARKVILLE — Luke Altmyer threw four touchdown passes, including three to Stacy Robinson, and Starkville (3-0) beat Meridian (0-3) on Friday, 35-14.
Robinson caught scores of 11, 9 and 32 yards from the senior Florida State commit, who finished 19 of 27 passing for 202 yards. Robinson had eight catches for 110 yards.
LeRoy Hollingshed had five catches for 48 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter.
With Mississippi State commit Amariyon Howard out injured, Jordan Mitchell was the leading rusher for the Yellow Jackets with 133 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
Braylon Burnside, Jaylon York and Blake Williams all had interceptions for Starkville.
The Jackets will play at South Panola (3-0) next Friday in Batesville.
Nanih Waiya 39, West Lowndes 24
LOUISVILLE — West Lowndes lost to top-ranked Nanih Waiya 39-24 in Friday’s road game.
No statistics were available from the contest.
The Panthers (1-2) have a bye before a road game at French Camp Academy on Oct. 2.
Deer Creek Academy 38, Columbus Christian Academy 6
STEENS — Deer Creek Academy started Friday’s game at Columbus Christian Academy by successfully recovering its own onside kick.
It was a bad sign for the Rams for the rest of the night.
Deer Creek built up a 30-0 halftime lead, allowed a late touchdown and sent Columbus Christian to 0-5 with a 38-6 loss.
Drake Shaw connected with Tyler Looney for a 42-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter for the Rams’ only score.
Columbus Christian had a fumble at its own 1-yard line and later had a 31-yard touchdown pass from Shaw to Jonah Harrison called back because of a holding penalty.
Looney and Lahndon Townley tied for the team lead with five tackles apiece.
Columbus Christian will play at Kemper Academy next Friday in De Kalb.
Winston Academy 33, Oak Hill Academy 0
WEST POINT — Oak Hill Academy was shut out 33-0 by Winston Academy on Friday in West Point.
The Raiders fell to 1-3 with the loss.
Oak Hill will be back in action next week at home against Marshall Academy.
Hebron Christian 52, Kemper Academy 14
PHEBA — Hebron Christian School broke a 14-14 halftime tie and pulled away from district foe Kemper Academy for its first win of the year.
The Eagles got a stop on defense to start the second half, then scored three times in four minutes to take control of the game.
Coach David Foster credited the team’s offensive line of Drake Flowers, Kenneth O’Brian, Wyatt Latham, Jon Garrett Lowe and Dash Turman with blocking well to set up Hebron’s run offense.
Lowe recovered three fumbles, including one for a 3-yard touchdown, and Doug Loden returned an interception 38 yards for a score.
Loden also had 12 rushing attempts for 113 yards and a touchdown and completed his only pass for a 25-yard touchdown.
Braeden Triplett added 65 yards on 17 rushing attempts and was 11 of 14 passing for 104 yards, two touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions. He also had five tackles and recovered a fumble on defense.
Turman caught four passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns, while Lowe had five catches for 57 yards and a score.
Zack Corban had six tackles for Hebron, while Bradley Scott had five as well as a fumble recovery. Turman added an interception for the Eagles.
Hebron will play at West Memphis Christian School (Arkansas) next week.
Victory Christian Academy 66, Tabernacle Christian (Ala.) 44
Victory Christian Academy evened its record at 1-1 with a 66-44 home win over Tabernacle Christian School (Alabama) on Friday in Columbus.
Tyshon Rogers accounted for six touchdowns for the Eagles — three on the ground and three through the air.
Rogers had two touchdown passes of 34 and 18 yards to Anthony Frierson, who finished with 75 receiving yards. Kayden Barksdale also caught a 75-yard touchdown pass.
Rogers had rushing scores of 50, 57 and 18 yards for Victory, and Camron Henley had a 48-yard touchdown run. Henley finished with 18 carries for 126 yards and a 75-yard kickoff return score.
Austin McCarter had a 24-yard touchdown run for the Eagles and added 20.5 tackles and an interception on defense.
Frierson led the team in tackles with 23, while Henley had eight tackles and an interception.
Victory Christian will play at New Life Christian Academy (Alabama) next week in Troy, Alabama.
